I'd like to connect with you before we close out the year. With peak travel season approaching, I also wanted to share some essential Safety & Self-Defense tips to keep you and your family safe.
My goal is for RISE to be a living resource that you come back to daily. I'm grateful for your continued feedback about your experience using RISE - we need feedback in order to improve. The P4 content for RISE is nearly complete, and we are finalizing P5 soon, so make sure to check back frequently if you are looking for higher level material.
As a bonus, we've added some never-before-seen training videos from 2010 to the On Demand Classes section of our site, available now for P1-P5 RISE Practitioner members. Enjoy!
Finally, I would love to see you in person in the Bay Area this January for both our exclusive graduate training seminar and an intense combative skills workshop. Scroll down for all the details.
Have a safe and happy holidays,
Dany
Safety Tips: Don't Be a Target This Holiday
The holiday season means travel, family gatherings, and excursions. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, you must prioritize safety measures. This is non-negotiable.
Here are the critical points. Pay attention:
POST LATER. ALWAYS. Sharing photos while you travel is advertising to thieves that your home is empty. Post your photos and share your experiences after you return home.
Stay vigilant. During travel, you must remain vigilant and avoid all distractions that could lead to safety troubles. Pay close attention to your belongings and, most importantly, to your family members.
If you are in charge, be in charge. Be careful when using intoxicants - sobriety is your best choice. Monitor your drinks - some areas have a reputation for bootleg alcohol that can be much stronger or even deadly.
Control the family movement. If you have young children, they must stay in front of you. This prevents them from making poor decisions or moving into danger behind your back. You lead.
The safe route is the only route. Avoid unfamiliar or "sketchy" places. Opt for safe routes, even if they are longer or more expensive. Refrain from gambling and challenging fate.
Have a code phrase. Social media scams continue to get more sophisticated. Have a code phrase that you can use when talking to your family and close friends that says "this is really me" or "this is real" to prevent impersonation leading into cash transfer scams or potential kidnapping.
The reality is simple: By being prepared and proactive, you will enhance your holiday experience and ensure your safety. Stay safe.
Upcoming In-Person Events
For Graduate Students: Due to multiple requests from our high-level students, I'm hosting an exclusive 2-Day Graduate Seminar on January 18-19. This specialized training includes optional level testing. Secure your spot here.
For Everyone: Start the new year with a sweat. I'm holding a 3-hour workshop in Santa Clara on January 24th focused on Combative Skills - standing and on the ground. Be ready for high-intensity training! Space is very limited.
